How to draw Batman (part 1)

How to draw Batman - Welcome to this new tutorial of the Drawing Factory. This tutorial will be about drawing the famous DC character Batman and we'll focus here on the face and hence the mask.
We will try to capture in this drawing the dark flavor of this character so we will be inspired by the more modern interpretations of the notorious superhero.
Lets get started.
So the first thing you want to do is to start sketching the basic outline of a male face. There are many tutorials on this website that will help you drawing a face and position the facial features correctly. Just have a look around. Try for example the series of tutorial on how to draw a face or the video tutorial of how to draw a male face, the super-hero tipe.
So I won't go in much detail here. Start sketching the outline of a face and position the basic features. Remember neck has to be big and masculine.
How to draw Batman - lets Start
Now lets define the eyebrow line and the nose line. For this particular mask you want to draw the eyebrow line at an angle, like showed in the picture below.
Then position the nose line at a comfortable distance from the brow line. Distance should be just right. Too long or too short and the face will look strange and weird.
At this point we start drawing the lines that will guide us to draw the mask of batman. Using the nose line as a starting point draw two diagonal lines from the tip of the nose going up to the sides of the head.
The two lines are roughly parallel to the brow lines. Also you want to sketch in the mouth at this point. Positioning the mouth is critical and will suggest the degree of inclination of the head forward. The closer the mouth to the nose the more tilted forward the head will appear.
How to draw Batman - Nose Line
Time to draw the nose and the sides of the mask (or hood if you want). If you have drawn things as described so far drawing these two parts should be easy.
The nose is defined by two simple straight lines to form a triangular shape. To define the sides of the mask you have just to trace two lines going from approximately the middle point of the top part to the jaw point. Just have a look at the picture below.
